Being Overweight Causes Sexual Problems

The data is troubling given that, according to the latest European Health Survey 2009, some six million Spanish people over 18 years (17 percent) have problems of obesity, nearly two percent more than in 2008, and 36.6 per cent overweight, one percent more than last year.
“We have evidence that many patients with weight problems develop considerable difficulties that affect not only communication with their partners, in terms of feelings and needs, but also to a greater or lesser satisfaction after sex” , explained Dr. Mariano Rosselló, director of the Center for Urology, Andrology and Sexual Health.
The expert noted that overweight affects self-esteem and sexual desire, but does so differently in men and women so that men are more likely to suffer from sexual impotence and lack of desire females, inhibition libido.
